Every other week on the show, I ask 5 questions on a certain straightforward topic or a more amorphous, This American Life-ish theme (such as nepotism, sidekicks, or the mnemonic “30 Days Hath…”).

In between the questions and the reveal of the answers, I present some music. Generally these songs are based on the theme, but not necessarily - sometimes they’re whatever just suits my fancy, from historic songs to Balkan tracks to hip-hop. Most of the time they come from the Free Music Archive, which is an awesome repository of podsafe, Creative Commons, and otherwise free music. Occasionally the music comes from artists who have come to me or with whom I’m friends (such as And the Giraffe, Kelly Montoya, and probably eventually Kirk Pearson), my own cover songs (such as from my Christmas EP), and field recordings, such as from my own Subway Music Archive.

Occasionally I have “double-length” episodes, where I have 10 questions over 2 rounds, and 2 songs as separating points in the show.
